Gardeners Movement Workshop

Gardeners Movement Workshop

The aim of the game is to be able to keep doing what we enjoy for as long as we possibly can and to remain healthy and mobile…but what does that actually mean and how can we do it? Movement in life is a series of patterns both simple and complex. Take walking for example; we continually lose and regain our balance over a course to reach a destination. We reach a level of competency through trial and error and repetition of the movement pattern. If we look at Gardening, it is actually quite complex: lifting, carrying, changing levels, pulling, pushing, rotating, moving in and out of alignment, undulating terrain, slippery surfaces, weather changes. With advancing years, the risk of injury increases due to decreased range of movement, motor skills and muscle mass if not maintained. It doesn’t have to be this way however…I designed this workshop to help gardeners of all ages and fitness levels keep doing the things that they enjoy, as efficiently as they can, for as long as they can, with minimal pain and discomfort. Worksop outline: Address the keys to longevity: cardio respiratory fitness, balance, reaction speed, mobility and muscular strength Learn creative partner exercises both competitively and cooperatively Practically explore joint mobility and posture improvement Look at how we reorganise the centres of balance: head, chest and pelvis Gain the ability to move efficiently from standing to kneeling Work on ground flow; the ability to adopt and change positions for both work and rest Discover the positions that best suit your anatomy and mobility level and create individual patterns that best suit your tasks and environment Don’t be put off by the words” fitness” and “strength”, these words often conjure up visions of gymnasium based high-intensity activities, but thats not what “Movement” for longevity is all about. Simply put, we need to increase the heart rate and improve blood flow through activities such as walking, while increasing and/or maintaining strength either by lifting eternal loads e.g. compost bags, plant pots or using bodyweight to create tension in the muscle fibres. Most of all it will be interactive and lots of fun…Life is movement and Movement is life The event will be held at the Daisybus Gardens and the price includes the: workshop, garden entry, tea and cake. Before and after the workshop there is the opportunity to explore the beautiful gardens, forest bathe and relax in the serene and calming environment…we look forward to seeing you.

Men's Primal Pathway outdoor event

Limited to 20 Men

£10 per person (training only)  paypal.me/rnaish/10

£15 per person (training and hot drink/lunch)  paypal.me/rnaish/15

Payment required to secure place, click relevant link above and mark yourself as “going” on this Facebook event page

We'll be set up along Godshill enclosure in The New Forest national park (vehicle hard to miss!)

What to expect:

A fully immersive training experience incorporating Natural Movement with old school Military training methods.

This isn’t your archetypal military style bootcamp event where you run around constantly doing regular exercises to failure, this approach is very flawed and shows a lack of understanding and experience.

You will be properly instructed in unique and challenging exercises and drills: plenty of skill based movement and partner drills, strength protocols using the “Gymrover” (a uniquely designed training vehicle) along with various recovery methods post training.

No previous training experience required, just healthy enthusiasm and a can do attitude, there is minimal running involved which can be easily replaced with a fast paced walk.

There is the opportunity to stay on for a light vegetarian lunch and a brew after for an extra fiver, it will be a a good time to chat amongst ourselves and get as much time in the forest environment as possible.

Women's Primal Pathway Strength and Mobility Workshop

Being able to move well is a true gauge of health and wellness irrespective of age. The Chinese proverb “You are as old as your spine” rings true as it controls all of our movement patterns

We become good at what we do most of the time…if we sit in a bad posture for long periods at work or home, we inevitably become an expert in that

Take back control of your body by relearning fundamental human movement patterns and develop skills that you were born with: squat, hip hinge, deep knee bend, balance, crawl, pull, push…

Learn full body mobility patterns and functional strength methods that can be practiced and incorporated at home

Discover the benefits of developing straight arm scapula strength (SASS) and how it translates to strength in movement

This style of natural movement differs from other holistic approaches such as yoga and pilates as some of the exercises involve partner work (competitive cooperation) and we will use the full area of the studio to incorporate the fundamental movement patterns. These approaches all compliment each other and will work in synergy to create a more capable human

Everything is scalable and achievable and as demanding as you make it, both mentally and physically…not to mention a lot of fun!

The Workshop is strictly limited to 8 Women

£25 per person

Payment is required via Paypal to secure a place:

alternatively, contact me to make payment via BACS
